Programme Overview
The UNIGE Excellence Master Fellowship is a merit-based scholarship designed for high-achieving students pursuing a Master of Science (MSc) degree at the Faculty of Science. The fellowship supports students fully dedicated to advanced scientific training and research-oriented studies.

  • Degree Level: Master of Science (MSc)

  • Fellowship Duration: Initial award for one year, renewable for the standard Master’s duration (3–4 semesters) subject to academic progress

  • Eligibility: Open to international students of all nationalities

The fellowship covers MSc programmes offered by the Faculty of Science, including:

  • Astrophysics

  • Biochemistry

  • Biology

  • Biomedical Sciences

  • Chemical Biology

  • Chemistry

  • Computer Science

  • Earth Sciences

  • Environmental Sciences (MUSE)

  • Mathematics

  • Neuroscience

  • Pharmacy

Programmes are taught in English or a combination of English and French, depending on the discipline.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:

  • Have completed or be completing a high-performing bachelor’s degree

  • Rank among the top students in their cohort

  • Meet admission requirements for the chosen MSc programme at UNIGE

  • Not have already started a Master’s programme at the Faculty of Science

Application Procedure

  1. Apply for a Master’s Programme through UNIGE Admissions Office

  2. Prepare Fellowship Application in a single PDF (English or French), including:

    • Passport or national ID copy

    • CV (max 2 pages)

    • Bachelor’s degree transcript

    • Motivation letter describing scientific interests and reasons for studying at UNIGE

    • Two academic reference letters

    • Optional: GRE, TOEFL, or other language test results

  3. Submit Online via the personal application link provided after registration
