Description:
A highly competitive fellowship for exceptional PhD candidates whose research addresses critical questions in American politics, public policy, foreign policy, and global affairs. The fellowship provides academic and financial support to complete dissertation work, prepare publications, and engage with a scholarly network.

Degree Level:

  • Doctoral (PhD candidates only)

  • Not a postdoctoral fellowship

Applicant Requirements:

  • Must expect to complete the dissertation by the end of the fellowship year, or

  • Submit a clear two-year dissertation completion plan

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Current PhD candidate

  • Close to completing dissertation or have a documented two-year completion plan

  • Demonstrate strong academic excellence and research quality

  • Show leadership potential

  • Present a research agenda contributing new perspectives to policy-facing scholarship

  • Willing to participate in on-campus residential visits and fellowship conferences

  • Commit to building and participating in a scholarly research network

  • Research plan (up to 500 words)

  • Scholarly network proposal (up to 1,200 words)

  • Op-ed or blog post (up to 750 words)

  • Professional development statement (up to 500 words)

  • Bibliography (max 3 pages)

  • Curriculum Vitae (max 2 pages)

  • Writing sample (up to 40 pages)

  • Two letters of recommendation (one from dissertation advisor)
