Overview:
The Sydney International Student Award recognises high-achieving international students and provides a 20% reduction in tuition fees for the full duration of eligible courses. The award supports talented students in achieving their academic and career goals at one of the world’s leading universities.


Eligible Subjects

The award applies to most undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs, including:

  • Business and Economics

  • Science and Engineering

  • Health and Medicine

  • Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

  • Education

  • Psychology

  • Information Technology

Note: Research degrees, MBA, Executive MBA, study abroad, executive education, distance learning, and Law Dual Degree pathway programs are not eligible.


Benefits of the Award

  • 20% reduction in tuition fees for the entire course duration

  • Automatically applied to the offer letter

  • No separate scholarship payment required

  • Can be transferred to another eligible degree at the University of Sydney

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be an international student under the Higher Education Support Act 2003

  • Hold citizenship of an eligible country or region

  • Receive an offer for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree

  • Not already be enrolled at the University of Sydney (except second-degree applicants)

  • Meet the academic entry requirements of the University of Sydney

  • South Asia (Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka)

  • Southeast Asia

  • East Asia

  • Central Asia

  • Western Asia (Turkey)

Note: Australian and New Zealand citizens, as well as Australian permanent residents, are not eligible.


Application Procedure

  • Apply for an eligible degree at the University of Sydney as an international student

  • Submit a personal statement using the official template (three sections, max 200 words each):

    1. Tell us about yourself

    2. Why you chose the University of Sydney

    3. Your academic and career goals

  • Eligible applicants are automatically considered for the award

  • Successful applicants receive a revised offer letter with the scholarship applied

  • Academic merit

  • Quality of the personal statement

  • Eligibility based on nationality and course

  • Meeting all admission and award conditions

Award Value and Conditions:

  • Covers 20% of tuition fees only

  • No cash payments are made to students
