Hilde Domin Programme Scholarship 2026–2027, Germany (Fully Funded)

Overview:
The Hilde Domin Programme, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and administered by DAAD, offers fully funded scholarships to at-risk students and doctoral candidates worldwide. It provides a safe academic environment in Germany for individuals facing political, civic, or human-rights-related threats in their home countries.

Degree Levels:

Master’s Degree (up to 24 months)
Doctoral Degree / PhD (up to 48 months)

Eligible Subjects:
Open to all academic disciplines except:

Human Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Law

Special rules apply for Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Design, Music, Film, Architecture.

Benefits:

Monthly stipend: €992 (Master’s), €1,300 (PhD)
Health, accident, and liability insurance
Travel allowance
German language course (2–6 months), if needed
Funding for full duration of the degree
Participation in interdisciplinary training programmes
Academic and personal support

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be at personal risk (threats due to political, ethnic, religious, gender, or civic engagement)
Hold valid academic qualifications
Must reside outside Germany/EU at the time of nomination
Language proficiency in German or English (B2)
Must belong to permitted fields of study

Application Process:

Direct applications are not allowed
Nomination by a German university, research institute, or human-rights organization is mandatory
DAAD checks risk situation and invites accepted candidates to apply online
Final selection by independent DAAD committee

Deadlines:

Nomination Deadline: 15 March 2026
Application Period: 17 March – 15 April 2026
