2025 Edinburgh Award for Flash Fiction

The 2025 Edinburgh Award for Flash Fiction invites writers from around the world who are over 16 years old to submit original short stories. Entries may cover any theme but must be written in English, suitable for adult readers, and must not exceed 250 words (excluding the title). Submitted works must be unpublished and must not have won previous awards.

Prizes

First Prize: £2,000
Second Prize: £500
Third Prize: £250
Top 20 stories will be published in the anthology.

Entry Fee

£10 per story

Eligibility Criteria

Original flash fiction written in English.
Suitable for adult readers.
Maximum length: 250 words.
Must not have been previously published or awarded.
