Monash University, in partnership with the Australian Government, offers the prestigious Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend to support high-achieving domestic and international students pursuing graduate research degrees. This program provides financial support, relocation assistance, and tuition coverage to enable students to focus on world-class research.

1. Monash University Australian Government RTP Scholarships 2026

The RTP Stipend at Monash University is designed for students beginning a Research Doctorate (PhD) or Research Masters (MPhil/Masters by Research), offering financial and academic support to help them excel in their research careers.

Degree Level:

• Research Doctorate (PhD)

• Research Masters (MPhil / Masters by Research)

• Eligible Joint Research Awards (Monash as home institution)

Available Subjects:

• Engineering

• Science & Technology

• Health & Medical Sciences

• Business & Economics

• Information Technology

• Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences

• Education

• Law

• Environmental Science

• Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences

Benefits:

1. Living Allowance: $37,145 per year (2026 rate) to support living expenses.

2. Relocation Allowance: Available for eligible students relocating for study.

3. Tuition Coverage:

   • Domestic students: automatic RTP Fees Offset (full tuition coverage)

   • International students: may be paired with a tuition scholarship

Eligible Nationalities:

• Australian citizens

• New Zealand citizens

• Australian permanent residents and humanitarian visa holders

• International students of all nationalities

• Indigenous Australian students may apply for RTP Stipend – Indigenous

Eligibility Criteria:

• Enrolment or intention to enrol in a Research Doctorate or Research Masters at Monash University

• Meet Monash’s scholarship and English proficiency requirements

• Selection based on academic excellence, research potential, prior research outputs, and relevant experience

Application Procedure:

1. Receive an invitation to apply (for new international applicants)

2. Submit course + scholarship application together via myApp Portal

3. Provide required documents: academic transcripts, CV, research proposal, proof of English proficiency, publications (if any)

4. Submit before the deadline:

   • International Round 1: 31 March

   • Domestic Round 2: 31 May

   • International Round 3: 31 August

   • Domestic Round 4: 31 October
