Introduction to the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship
The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship is one of Europe’s most prestigious fully funded programs for international students, managed by the Government of Hungary through the Tempus Public Foundation. Established in 2013, it aims to promote internationalization and cultural exchange by inviting talented students worldwide to study at Hungary’s leading universities. Covering tuition, accommodation, stipends, and health insurance, this scholarship allows ambitious students to pursue Bachelor’s, Master’s, One-Tier Master’s, PhD, or non-degree programs without financial burden. With over 800 programs across 30 universities in Hungary, students can choose from a wide range of academic disciplines, from engineering and computer science to humanities, medicine, business, and arts.
1. Hungary Government (Stipendium Hungaricum) Scholarship 2026-2027 – Fully Funded
The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship 2026-2027 provides full tuition coverage, monthly stipends, accommodation, and health insurance for all admitted students. Monthly stipends are HUF 43,700 for Bachelor’s and Master’s students and HUF 140,000 for PhD students. Students may receive free dormitory housing or a housing allowance, and travel allowances are provided based on country policy. Eligible students must be citizens of a partner country, meet the academic requirements of the chosen program, and apply through the designated Sending Partner. PhD applicants must submit a research proposal and recommendation letters. The application process includes program selection, online registration, uploading required documents (transcripts, motivation letter, proof of language proficiency, medical certificate, etc.), and submission via the Sending Partner. Nominated candidates are forwarded to Hungarian universities for admission assessment, with results announced by June 2026.
