Eligibility Criteria:

  • High school junior (11th grade) or senior (12th grade) at the time of submission

  • Must identify as African-American or Black

  • U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident

  • Reside in a district represented by a Congressional Black Caucus member

  • Competitive academic record

  • Essay responding to the assigned CBCF topic, demonstrating research, critical thinking, and analysis

Application Procedure:

  1. Verify Eligibility – Ensure you meet grade, identity, citizenship, and district requirements

  2. Review Essay Topic – Check the official CBCF scholarships webpage for the annual prompt

  3. Write the Essay – Conduct research, form a strong argument, and follow formatting guidelines

  4. Prepare Required Documents:
