The AlaskaAdvantage Education Grant (AEG) is a need-based financial aid program managed by the Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education (ACPE). Designed for Alaska residents, it supports students enrolled in undergraduate, vocational, and workforce training programs within the state. Awards of up to $4,000 per academic year help reduce tuition costs and student loan dependency.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Alaska residency for at least 365 days before FAFSA filing

  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Enrollment in a qualifying undergraduate or vocational program

  • Minimum half-time enrollment

  • Submission of FAFSA and selection of at least one qualifying Alaska institution

  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

Application Procedure

  1. Complete FAFSA: Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, listing at least one Alaska institution.

  2. Eligibility Review: ACPE reviews FAFSA submissions.

  3. Receive Intent Form: Qualified students receive an AEG Intent Form via email.

  4. Submit Intent Form: Return by the deadline to confirm eligibility.

  5. Enrollment Verification: Enroll at least half-time at the selected institution.

  6. Award Disbursement: Funds are sent directly to the institution to reduce tuition costs.
