Course/Scholarship Details
The programme enables scholars to pursue a Master’s (up to 24 months) or PhD (up to 48 months) at any recognized German university, with comprehensive financial and personal support.

Eligibility:

Open to international students at personal risk (persecution, denial of rights, threats due to identity or civic engagement)

Must hold valid academic qualifications for the intended degree

Must reside outside Germany/EU at the time of nomination

Language proficiency (German or English) at B2 level

Eligible fields: All except Human Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, and Law (special rules for arts and design fields)
Application Process:

Direct applications are not allowed; candidates must be nominated by a German university, research institute, or human-rights organization

DAAD conducts a plausibility check of the nomination

Invited candidates submit online application, CV, motivation letter, academic documents, language certificates, and risk-description form

Independent DAAD committee evaluates risk, academic potential, and motivation
