Alaska Bar Association Law School Scholarship – Position Details
The Alaska Bar Association Law School Scholarships offer $5,000 in financial support to first- and second-year JD students who have a demonstrated commitment to returning to Alaska after graduation. The aim is to help reduce financial burdens and strengthen Alaska’s future legal workforce.
Students must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. law school and show documented ties to Alaska, such as previous residency, family connections, community involvement, or work history. Applicants must submit a complete application form, resume, proof of enrollment, and a detailed personal statement describing their connection to Alaska, career goals, and commitment to returning within two years after graduation.
The scholarship supports JD studies only, with consideration for law-related programs only if part of a JD track. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or individuals eligible for U.S. law school enrollment. Submission methods include mail, email, or in-person drop-off, with the final decision announced in late April. The program is funded through contributions from the Alaska legal community and the Alaska Bar Foundation.
