Eligibility Criteria

• Nationality from a country with diplomatic relations with Japan

• Born on or after April 2, 1991

• Able to arrive in Japan before Fall 2026

• Cannot have previously received a MEXT Scholarship or currently study in Japan under another scholarship

• Academic transcripts (Bachelor’s and Master’s as applicable)

• Graduation certificate or diploma copy

• Proof of English proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, or English-medium degree)

• Research plan (max 5 pages)

• Recommenders’ contact information (2 professors/academic supervisors)
