France Government MOPGA 8 Visiting Fellowship 2026 (Fully Funded)

The Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) Visiting Fellowship 2026 is a distinguished postdoctoral program established by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. Implemented by Campus France, the fellowship is designed to attract high-potential international researchers dedicated to addressing global climate and environmental challenges. Since its launch in 2018, MOPGA has strengthened France’s position as a global leader in sustainability research and scientific collaboration.

Postdoctoral Research Fellowship

Available Subjects

Research proposals must fall within one of the following fields:

  • Earth System Sciences

  • Climate Change and Sustainability Sciences

  • Energy Transition

  • Societal Challenges of Environmental Issues

  • One Health Approach (integrated human, animal, and environmental health)

Fellowship Benefits

Selected fellows will receive:

  • Monthly stipend: €2,500 for 12 months

  • One-time installation grant of €500

  • Comprehensive health, liability, and repatriation coverage

  • Official status as “Boursier du Gouvernement Français (BGF)”
    Funding is managed by Campus France and the fellowship duration is 12 months, non-renewable.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Hold a PhD degree earned between December 2020 and December 2025

  • Be non-French nationals

  • Not have lived in France for more than 90 days between September and December 2025

  • Submit a research proposal aligned with MOPGA themes

  • Secure support from a French host laboratory or research institution

Required Documents

Candidates must submit through the Campus France SMApply system:

  • Curriculum Vitae (max 4 pages) with publications

  • PhD certificate or official proof

  • CV of French research supervisor (max 2 pages)

  • Support letter from host supervisor and laboratory director

  • Up to three recommendation letters

  • Passport or national ID

  • Full research proposal including title, keywords, objectives, methodology, and relevance

Application Schedule

  • Opening: 12 September 2025

  • Deadline: 12 December 2025

  • Results: May–June 2026

  • Arrival in France: Between September and December 2026

Selection Process

  • Scientific evaluation of research proposals

  • Final decision by an international selection committee
