TWAS Doctoral Fellowship 2026 (Fully Funded)

  • Fully funded fellowship for PhD and doctoral research in developing countries.

  • Open to international students from China, India, Brazil, Pakistan, South Africa, and other non-EU countries.

  • Duration: Three years.

  • Supports a wide range of STEM disciplines including:

    • Agricultural Sciences

    • Structural, Cell, and Molecular Biology

    • Biological Systems and Organisms

    • Medical and Health Sciences, including Neurosciences

    • Chemical Sciences

    • Engineering Sciences

    • Astronomy, Space, and Earth Sciences

    • Mathematical Sciences

    • Physics

  • Provides a comprehensive support package including:

    • Tuition fees (Partial Cost of Study)

    • Accommodation costs at the host institute

    • Monthly allowance for living expenses (food, accommodation, health insurance)

    • Travel support (economy-class return airfare and visa/study permit costs)

  • Enables students to fully focus on research and academic development.

  • Particularly encourages applicants from developing and least developed countries.

  • Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.

  • Required language: English proficiency.

  • Preliminary or full acceptance from a TWAS partner institute is required.

  • Only one TWAS program per calendar year can be applied to.

  • Host institutions include prestigious universities in Brazil, China, India, Pakistan, and South Africa.

  • Application procedure:

    • Monitor the official TWAS portal for open programs.

    • Secure preliminary acceptance from the chosen host institute.

    • Submit all required documents online: transcripts, CV, research proposal, English proficiency, acceptance letter.

    • Await selection notification from TWAS.
