About the Scholarship

The Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarships are among the most prestigious awards offered by TU Delft. They are dedicated to exceptional international students who wish to pursue a two-year Master of Science (MSc) degree in one of the university’s regular MSc programs.

These scholarships are funded by the Justus & Louise van Effen Foundation, which was established in honor of the couple’s belief in the transformative power of technology and education. The foundation supports outstanding international students by removing financial barriers and empowering them to contribute to global innovation.

• Scholarship Name: Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarships

• Study Duration: Two years (MSc program)

• Number of Scholarships: Two per faculty

• Academic Year: 2026

Financial Coverage

The scholarship provides full financial support, including:

• Full tuition fee waiver for the selected MSc program, based on the applicant’s nationality and applicable fee rate (statutory or institutional).

• A financial allowance to cover living expenses during the study period in the Netherlands.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Be an outstanding international student admitted (conditionally or fully) to one of TU Delft’s two-year MSc programs.

• The scholarship does not apply to International Joint Education Programmes.

• Have excellent academic performance in previous studies relevant to the MSc program.

• Be among the top 10% of graduates from their prior degree program (no proof required).

• Submit a complete MSc application before the scholarship deadline.

Application Deadline

• Deadline: 1 December 2025 (23:59 CET)

• Notification: Selected candidates will be informed via email by the end of March 2026.

• The award is conditional upon meeting all official admission requirements.

Application Procedure
Applicants must submit all required documents simultaneously with their MSc application. No additional documents can be uploaded afterward.

Steps to Apply

1. Complete the MSc application for TU Delft and ensure all admission requirements are fulfilled.

2. Upload the Scholarship Application Form.

3. Upload two reference letters as follows:

   • Upload both together as a single PDF file during the MSc application, or

   • Invite referees directly via the application system to upload them through the automatic email invitation.

   • You may combine both methods.

   • Reference letters will not be accepted after the deadline.

4. Upload the English language proficiency certificate (if required) before the deadline.

Important Notes

• All scholarship documents must be submitted together with the MSc application.

• Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

• No additional documents can be uploaded after submission.
