Fellowship Details

The fellowship lasts between three to six months with flexible start dates available from May through November 2026. Fellows receive comprehensive financial support covering international travel, living expenses in Kyoto, and research funds. Additional funding for domestic travel within Japan may also be provided. You will gain full access to CSEAS’s extensive library and research resources. The fellowship also offers chances to present your findings, participate in seminars and workshops, and collaborate with leading scholars.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or have equivalent professional experience. The research project should focus on Southeast Asia or related transregional themes. This fellowship is open to scholars worldwide, with preference for mid-career and senior researchers. Applicants must be under 65 years old at the time of appointment.
