Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should be established researchers under age 65 (applicants over 65 may be considered if outstanding), with a proven research record and strong publications. Those currently enrolled in graduate or post‑doctoral programs are not eligible. Experienced librarians may apply for the librarian track. Previous CSEAS fellows must wait at least six years before reapplyingWhat the Fellowship Offers
Participants receive an international travel allowance, a monthly stipend for living expenses in Kyoto, research support funds, and domestic travel coverage within Japan (subject to regulations). Fellows are considered employees of Kyoto University during their stay and will be expected to reside in Kyoto, present a public lecture, and engage in CSEAS seminars and publications such as the Southeast Asian Studies journal and Kyoto Review of Southeast Asia↚
