The PhD project will contribute to the Metallophore Group within the Biotechnology department at HIF, focusing on:
* Scalable and efficient production of siderophores—iron-chelating compounds essential for bioleaching, mining, and bioremediation.
KEY RESEARCH OBJECTIVES:
1. Production of siderophores such as Desferrioxamine B (DFOB), Desferrioxamine E (DFOE), and Bisucaberin (Bis) through:
* Native biosynthesis
* Genetic engineering
* Cell-free systems
2. Optimization of bioreactor-based production processes to maximize siderophore yield.
3. Development of two-phase aqueous extraction systems for scalable downstream purification.
