Eligibility Criteria
- Experience: At least 5 years of full-time journalism experience (print, broadcast, or online media). This includes reporters, photojournalists, columnists, and producers. Supervisors with direct journalism experience may also apply.
- Job Requirements: The applicant must be working as a journalist outside of the United States. Individuals in public relations or non-media roles are ineligible.
- Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership potential.
Sample Requirements for the World Press Institute Fellowship
- General Requirements: Samples must be published within the last two years and include the publication date. If the samples are in a language other than English, a translation must be provided.
- For Print Journalists: Submit 3 published samples with your name on the work.
- For Editors: Submit a statement outlining your role in the samples.
- For Broadcast Journalists: Submit 15 minutes of programming. Links to YouTube, Dropbox, or other broadcast sites are acceptable.
- For Online Journalists: Submit either 15 minutes of programming or three printed articles. Samples must indicate your role as a journalist (data gathering, production, or editing).
