High school students who care about the environment and want to express their ideas about protecting nature have an inspiring opportunity to participate in the Protect American River Canyons Essay Contest This scholarship contest is organized by Protect American River Canyons to encourage young people to reflect on environmental challenges.↚

Share Your Voice for Nature and Win a Scholarship in California

Details
Participants are invited to write a thoughtful essay describing their personal connection to the American River and its canyons Students are encouraged to reflect on modern concerns such as climate change social issues or other challenges that may affect the natural environment The essay should highlight the student perspective experiences and awareness of environmental issues impacting the region while encouraging meaningful reflection about the future of this important natural landscape

Requirements
Applicants must be graduating high school seniors living in specific counties in California Eligible students must be residents of Placer County Nevada County or El Dorado County even if they attend school in another location within the United States Participants must submit an original essay written in their own words The essay must be typed and limited to five hundred words or fewer Students must also include the official contest entry form with their submission

Selected students receive financial support and recognition for their environmental awareness and writing ability Five scholarships are awarded with each recipient receiving five hundred dollars The contest also provides an opportunity for students to express their ideas about environmental protection gain recognition from a respected environmental organization and contribute to raising awareness about protecting the American River and its surrounding canyons
