The scholarship supports individuals who have served in the military as well as their families who wish to pursue higher education or professional training programs It aims to provide educational opportunities for those who have been directly impacted by military service including wounded veterans or families of service members who sacrificed their lives while serving their country The program recognizes the importance of education in building a stable future and helping veterans and their loved ones achieve their personal and professional goals
Requirements
Applicants may be high school students undergraduate students or adults returning to education Candidates must plan to pursue a bachelor degree or vocational or trade training at an accredited institution Applicants must either be veterans who served honorably in the United States Armed Forces active duty service members who were wounded during service or the spouse child or grandchild of a veteran who was killed or wounded due to a service related circumstance Candidates must maintain a minimum grade point average of three on a four point scale and demonstrate financial need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid Preference may be given to veterans injured in combat families of veterans killed or wounded during service and individuals connected to first responders
Benefits
Selected recipients receive financial assistance to support their educational journey Scholarship awards typically range from one thousand to five thousand dollars which can be used to help cover tuition and other education related expenses In some cases the scholarship may be renewed for up to four years as long as the recipient continues to meet the eligibility requirements This support helps veterans and their families pursue academic goals and improve their career opportunities
