Scholarship Details
The LEI offers state-funded PhD positions beginning October 2025, conducted in collaboration with Kaunas University of Technology, Vytautas Magnus University, and Klaipėda University . PhD students benefit from modern facilities and are fully immersed in impactful projects advancing sustainable energy and environmental technologies
Funding Package
First-year fellows receive a monthly stipend of €1,330, rising to €1,540 per month during years 2 to 4 The scholarship covers tuition and provides access to LEI’s top-tier research labs and infrastructure

Open to candidates holding a Master’s in fields like mathematics, physics, chemistry, various engineering disciplines, natural sciences, or economics Three research tracks are available: Energetics and Power Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Economics . Applicants from any nationality are invited to apply, provided they hold recognized qualifications and English proficiency

Applications are open from June 5 to June 20, 2025, with motivational interviews scheduled between June 26 and June 30, and results announced on June 30 A secondary intake may open in September–October 2025 for late applicants

Candidates must submit a detailed application form including their chosen research field and funding preference, copies of Master’s diploma and transcript (plus recognition certificate for studies outside Lithuania), CV, two academic reference letters (with supervisor endorsement for Economics applicants), a list of publications or a research paper, passport copy, and English proficiency proof (unless prior education in English states otherwise)
