Advance Your Research Career with the DAAD PRIME Fellowship 2025–26

Fellowship Overview

Duration: 18 months (12 months abroad at a foreign research institution + 6 months reintegration phase at a German university)
Funding: Monthly salary ranging from €5,000 to €6,400 depending on experience
Additional Benefits: Monthly expatriate allowance during the foreign research stay, travel allowances, and support for accompanying family members

Eligibility Criteria

Hold a doctoral degree completed with excellent results before the fellowship begins
Have obtained the doctorate no more than six years prior to application
Possess at least one peer-reviewed publication
Not have spent more than 12 months in the host country during the last three years
Demonstrate a clear intention to pursue a long-term academic career in Germany
Secure commitments from both a German university and a foreign host research institution

Application Requirements

A detailed research proposal outlining your 18-month project
Curriculum vitae including academic and professional background
Degree certificates and transcripts
List of relevant publications
Letters of recommendation (at least one from a university professor)
Formal commitment letters from both host institutions
Career development plan describing professional goals
Signed ethics checklist
Proof of language proficiency, if applicable
