A Creative Fellowship with Global Ambition
Established in 2020 to bridge urban knowledge between Paris and London, the Banister Fletcher Global Fellowship builds on more than a century of architectural scholarship—from Banister Fletcher’s foundational texts to its modern postcolonial re-envisioning. The fellowship supports work that interrogates how cities evolve through community narratives, mobility trends, policy innovation, and environmental urgency
Who Should Apply?
If you hold a PhD—or demonstrate equivalent creative or research impact—and possess a significant track record in urban studies, creative practice, policy, or architecture, this fellowship is for you. Both salaried professionals and independent researchers are encouraged, particularly those from underrepresented communities. Your project must address urban practice in Paris and/or London, combining historical insight with programmatic innovation
Fellowship Duration and Funding
The fellowship runs for up to six months, typically between January and June 2026. You may spend time in Paris, London, or divide your residency across both cities. Fellows will receive £50,000 funding, plus dedicated programming support to organize workshops, lectures, and other events tied to your research and outreach agenda
Application Process & Key Dates
Applications open in June 2025 with submissions due by 8 July 2025 (Midnight BST). You will submit a consolidated application including a CV with two referees, a pitch summary of up to 300 words, and a detailed project proposal of up to four pages explaining your intended events, structure, collaboration plans, and how your work relates to the Paris–London framework
