About the Scholarship
The Monash University – Museums Victoria PhD Research Scholarship is a prestigious program established under the Robert Blackwood Partnership. This collaboration between Monash University and Museums Victoria aims to promote innovative research and facilitate impactful collaborations. Each year, two scholarships are awarded:
- One in the Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) disciplines.
- One in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
This scholarship provides students with the opportunity to engage with Museums Victoria’s extensive collections and work under the guidance of Monash academics.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a commencing or continuing full-time internal/on-campus PhD student (or a part-time PhD student with a medical condition or significant carer commitments) based at a Monash campus in Australia.
- Be working on projects co-supervised by Monash and Museums Victoria or projects substantially focused on aspects of Museums Victoria’s collection.
- Be within the first two years of candidature (where enrolled)
