Fellowship Details

Commencing on September 1, 2026, and concluding August 31, 2027, this program offers three fully funded fellowships within the eikones Center for the Theory and History of the Image at the University of Basel. The opportunity includes a competitive monthly salary, funding for travel and conferences, and access to world‑class research infrastructure. Fellows are expected to reside in Basel and participate in select institutional events while dedicating themselves fully to research without teaching or administrative duties .

Eligibility

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree and demonstrate strong academic output by having published either a scholarly monograph or at least three peer‑reviewed journal articles or book chapters. Researchers from any discipline whose work aligns with the theme of images as models—whether in natural science, humanities, or social sciences—are welcome to apply. Applications may be submitted in English or German
