Unlock Global Governance Impact with ANZSOG Academic Fellowships 2026

Applications are open for two fellowship streams starting in 2026 Resident Academic Fellows for scholars from ANZSOG partner universities and Visiting Academic Fellows for researchers from other institutions in Australia New Zealand and beyond 

Fellowship Streams and Duration

Resident Academic Fellowships run over four to six months and include a teaching buyout funded by your home university allowing you to work part time at ANZSOG
Visiting Academic Fellowships span one to three months offering travel accommodation and workspace support at ANZSOG locations for visiting researchers focused on sabbaticals or mobility programs

Purpose and Collaboration

The fellowships aim to strengthen engagement between scholars and public service practitioners by embedding your research within policymaking discussions contributing to strategic debates and connecting with ANZSOG faculty and government experts

Funding and Support

Resident Fellows receive a financial contribution of up to AUD 37 300 via teaching buyout to reduce their university workload and focus on joint projects
Visiting Fellows receive funding toward travel and accommodation expenses plus access to campus facilities and professional networks within ANZSOG

Eligibility Criteria

Resident Fellowships are open to academics employed at ANZSOG partner universities in Australia and New Zealand
Visiting Fellowships welcome applicants from other universities in the region as well as global institutions
All candidates must demonstrate a strong public governance research profile and a commitment to applied impact through engagement with the public sector
