Aalto University Excellence Scholarship
Aalto University provides a limited number of Excellence Scholarships for fee-paying international students. These awards are granted as tuition fee waivers to the most outstanding applicants based on academic merit and programme evaluation criteria.
Key details:
• Awarded only to students liable to pay tuition fees
• Based purely on academic excellence — no separate application form required
• Does not cover living expenses (students should budget at least €800 per month)
• Scholarship and admission decisions are announced together and are final under Finnish law
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for Aalto University Master’s admission 2026, applicants must:
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree equivalent to at least 180 ECTS credits or a minimum of three years of full-time study
• Have a degree that grants eligibility for master’s studies in the awarding country
• Provide proof of English proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, or other accepted test results)
• Upload all required documents before the application deadline
• Applicants with an incomplete bachelor’s degree may still apply if they will graduate by 31 July 2026
Required Application Documents
• Bachelor’s degree certificate
• Official transcript of records
• Authorized English translations (if required)
• Proof of English language proficiency
• Copy of passport or national ID
• Motivation letter tailored to the selected programme
• Portfolio (for Art, Design, or Architecture applicants)
• GMAT or GRE results (for Business and select Engineering programmes)
All documents must be uploaded in color PDF format via Studyinfo.fi by 9 January 2026.
Application & Tuition Fees
Application Fee: €100 (for non-EU/EEA citizens)
Tuition Fee: Applicable to non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens admitted to English-taught programmes
Students are exempt from tuition fees if they:
• Are citizens of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland
• Hold a permanent (P) or continuous (A) residence permit in Finland
• Hold an EU Blue Card, Brexit residence permit, or temporary protection status
• Are family members of an EU citizen with a valid residence card
Application Timeline 2026
2 January 2026 (3 PM UTC+2) – Application closes
9 January 2026 – Deadline to upload all documents
8 April 2026 – Admission results announced
29 April 2026 – Deadline to accept admission offer
August–September 2026 – Orientation week and start of studies
How to Apply
When completing your online application for your chosen Master’s programme, simply select “Yes” in response to the question “Do you apply for a scholarship?” to be automatically considered for the Aalto University Excellence Scholarship.
