Program Highlights
- Funding Amount: Your salary and up to £400,000 for research expenses. Certain costs, such as overheads and overseas allowances, do not count towards the £400,000 limit.
- Duration: Typically 5 years, with flexibility for certain disciplines like humanities and social sciences. The award can be held on a part-time basis, with the duration extended accordingly.
- Eligibility: Open to early-career researchers who have completed their PhD or equivalent higher research degree and have no more than 3 years of postdoctoral experience. Applicants should be based at eligible non-profit institutions in the UK, Republic of Ireland, or low- or middle-income countries (excluding mainland China and India).
Research Focus
Projects should aim to advance understanding in your field and/or develop methodologies, conceptual frameworks, tools, or techniques that could benefit health-related research. The research must align with Wellcome's Discovery Research remit and have the potential to improve human health or well-being.
