Scholarship Overview

The PhD project investigates how transitions between urban and rural environments impact soil quality and contribute to microplastic pollution in rurban areas across Ghana and India. Candidates will engage in field campaigns, laboratory analyses, and advanced spectral methods to assess soil conditions. The research also includes drone-based soil mapping operations and collaboration with international research teams. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Academic Background: Master’s degree in soil science, environmental sciences, geosciences, or a related field.
  • Research Experience: Experience in soil analysis, environmental research, or related areas is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in English; knowledge of German is beneficial but not required.
  • Commitment: Willingness to conduct fieldwork in Ghana and India.
