Fellowship Overview
The DAAD PRIME (Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience) Fellowship is designed to support early-career researchers in establishing themselves in Germany. The fellowship comprises:
- 12-Month Research Stay Abroad: Conduct independent research at a host institution outside Germany.
- 6-Month Reintegration Phase in Germany: Return to a German university to continue research and integrate into the German academic system.
This structure aims to strengthen international research networks and facilitate the development of a sustainable academic career in Germany.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a PhD completed no more than six years prior to the fellowship start date (adjustments for parental or caregiving leave are considered).
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to a long-term academic career in Germany.
- Have at least one peer-reviewed publication.
- Have not resided or worked in the host country for more than 12 months in the three years preceding the application (mobility rule).
- Applicants from the EU/EEA may choose a host institution outside Europe; non-EU applicants must select a host institution within the EU.
- Applicants must not hold a permanent contract at the German host institution.

Fellowship Benefits
