Recognizing Diverse Leadership and Advocacy
Leadership comes in many forms, and this program celebrates a wide spectrum of community involvement. Eligible applicants are those who have taken active roles in school organizations like Gender and Sexuality Alliances, participated in social justice movements, or engaged in political and arts activism. Whether you have hosted vital discussions within community organizations or supported your peers through challenging times, your ability to promote awareness and foster growth is the core criteria for this prestigious recognition.
Financial Support and Regional Eligibility
The program offers individual scholarship awards of up to five thousand dollars, with a total of thirty thousand dollars distributed annually among five to eight exceptional student leaders. To be eligible, applicants must self-identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community and be twenty-four years of age or younger. This opportunity is exclusively available to residents of the Washington D.C. Metro Area, including parts of Maryland and Virginia, who have completed their high school education or GED within the region.
Application and Impact Review
The selection process is a comprehensive evaluation of your personal growth and the tangible impact you have had on your community. Applicants are required to submit documentation of their academic completion and proof of their upcoming enrollment in a post-secondary program. The heart of the application lies in showcasing your leadership history and your vision for future advocacy. While the program is open to high school seniors and those who have taken a short gap year, it is specifically intended for new students embarking on their first collegiate or technical journey.
