Fellowship Benefits
The Hertz Fellowship provides up to five years of funding for doctoral study including full tuition coverage and a generous personal stipend Fellows gain professional mentorship networking with leaders in science and industry access to the vibrant Hertz Fellows Network and the flexibility to pursue original research ideas In addition finalists not selected as fellows may still receive full financial support through partnerships with over 50 universities including Case Western Reserve University and Texas A&M University
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents pursuing or planning to pursue a PhD in applied science engineering or mathematics Candidates should demonstrate exceptional academic performance technical expertise and creative research potential Applicants are expected to show a commitment to advancing science and technology for the public good Current graduate students and incoming students for the next academic year are eligible A non-binding moral commitment to make their skills available to the US in times of national emergency is required
How to Apply
Visit the official Hertz Foundation website and complete the online application form before October 31 2025 Prepare and upload all required materials including academic transcripts resume or CV personal statement outlining research interests and goals and letters of recommendation Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interviews with the Hertz Fellowship Committee Finalists are announced in February 2026 and award recipients in May 2026
