Scholarship Overview

The King-Morgridge Scholars Program is UW–Madison’s most selective award for international students. It recognizes academic excellence, leadership, creativity, and dedication to social change. Only six scholars are selected each year, receiving comprehensive financial support and guidance to maximize their educational and community impact.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be first-year students seeking a bachelor’s degree, first-generation university students from low-income backgrounds, and within three years of high school graduation. Eligible students should come from schools in Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, South Asia, or Southeast Asia. Transfer students, graduate students, or those who have completed a post-secondary degree are not eligible.

Application Procedure

Applicants must first apply to UW–Madison as a first-year student through Early Action and set up a NetID to access the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH). They must complete the King-Morgridge Scholars Program application, including short-answer questions and a 500–700 word essay, and submit it by November 15, 2025. Scholarship decisions will be announced by March 2026.
