The Barbara Caras Memorial Scholarship for Film Studies is offered every year by the Sarasota Film Society
The scholarship supports students pursuing film creative writing animation illustration motion design and related visual arts programs
The scholarship amount is 2000 USD per selected student
Five students are awarded annually

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 or higher
Applicants must have completed at least one full year of college
Applicants must be enrolled in an eligible film creative media or visual arts major
Applicants must be residents of Sarasota County or Manatee County
Applicants must attend an accredited college in Florida
The scholarship is strictly merit based
Financial need is not considered during the selection process
