Scholarship Overview

Edith Cowan University offers two scholarship types: the ECU Higher Degree by Research Scholarship and the RTP Stipend Scholarship. These scholarships provide full tuition fee waivers and an annual stipend of AUD 35,000, paid fortnightly. Additional support includes a relocation allowance for domestic students and partial reimbursement of Overseas Student Health Cover for international students. The scholarships cover up to three years full-time for PhD programs and up to two years for Master by Research.

Who Can Apply

The scholarships are open to students who have received or are in the process of receiving an offer of admission into ECU’s PhD, Integrated PhD, or Master by Research programs. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic merit, research potential, and a well-defined research project endorsed by their principal supervisor. Women and underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Restrictions

Applicants are not eligible if they have received an AusAID or Australia Award scholarship in the past two years, lack endorsement from their principal supervisor, or commence their degree after the specified dates: May 8, 2026, for PhD or Semester 1, 2026, for Master by Research. Candidates earning more than 75% of the RTP annual stipend for living purposes are also ineligible.
