Established in 2009 the Minerva Scholarship Fund Foundation promotes academic excellence by supporting prestigious international experiences Leiden University founded in 1575 is the oldest university in the Netherlands and one of Europe’s leading research institutions With campuses in Leiden and The Hague it offers a dynamic multicultural environment attracting students from over 120 countries and fostering critical thinking innovation and global collaboration
Degree Level
Bachelor’s and Master’s students currently enrolled at Leiden University are eligible PhD tracks and full Master’s programs are not eligible
Available Fields of Study
The scholarship is open to all faculties including Archaeology Humanities Medicine LUMC Governance and Global Affairs Law Social and Behavioural Sciences Science and ICLON Interfaculty Centre for Teacher Training Educational Development and Further Education
Scholarship Benefits
Recipients receive financial support between €900 and €2,000 to cover international travel costs research expenses and living expenses abroad
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be registered as Bachelor or Master students at Leiden University The project must be an exceptional study research or internship experience abroad and fall under one of the categories internship study or research Applicants do not need to be members of L.S.V. Minerva
Selection Process
Applications are reviewed by an allocation committee of Leiden University lecturers evaluating the academic relevance of the proposed project and its contribution to the advancement of knowledge Applicants are informed of the results within one month after the deadline Decisions are final
Application Procedure
Students apply directly to the Minerva Scholarship Fund Foundation by downloading the application form from the official website completing it carefully gathering all required supporting documents and submitting the complete dossier to the provided postal address before the deadline There are two application rounds per year Spring deadline 15 April Autumn deadline 15 November
