Shine Globally with the University of Auckland Excellence Scholarship

This prestigious scholarship awards up to fifty exceptional international students each intake, providing up to NZD 10,000 towards compulsory tuition fees for one academic year. It is available to new students enrolling full-time in undergraduate degrees, postgraduate diplomas, or master’s programmes lasting at least one year 

Scholarship Details

Two application cycles operate annually. For the Semester Two 2025 intake, applications open around 30 January 2025 with a deadline of 1 April 2025. For Semester One 2026 intake, the opening date is around 11 September 2025 and the deadline is 23 October 2025 

Eligibility

Eligible candidates are new international students (non-New Zealand/Australia citizens or residents) who have received a conditional or unconditional offer to study full-time in an eligible undergraduate, postgraduate diploma, or master’s programme (minimum 120 points). Applicants must meet academic entry and English proficiency requirements, and demonstrate excellent academic performance typically with a Grade Point Equivalent (GPE) of 6.00 or higher 

Benefits

The award grants up to NZD 10,000 credited directly toward tuition in the first semester. It does not cover living expenses, accommodation, travel, or other non-tuition costs but significantly reduces overall fee burdens. Recipients become part of a diverse international cohort at a globally recognized university

Next, prepare essential documents including your offer letter, academic transcripts, proof of English proficiency, and a strong letter of application or reference. Submit your scholarship application through the University of Auckland’s scholarships portal, ensuring all sections are fully completed before the closing deadline. Selection outcomes are typically communicated about six to eight weeks after the deadline .
