This scholarship program provides financial assistance to students who are planning to begin their post-secondary journey in college, vocational schools, or other approved training institutions. Since its establishment, the Spingarn Alumni Association has awarded significant financial support to students across the region, reinforcing its commitment to educational access and opportunity. Each award reflects the association’s dedication to helping students transition successfully into their academic and professional futures.
AVAILABLE STUDY PATHS
The scholarship supports students entering any field of study without restriction. Eligible applicants may pursue undergraduate degree programs, vocational training programs, or other recognized post-secondary educational pathways depending on their chosen institution and career goals.
BENEFITS
Selected recipients receive a financial award of one thousand US dollars to assist with tuition fees and educational expenses. In addition to financial support, students gain recognition from the Spingarn Alumni Association and become part of a legacy network of scholarship recipients who have been supported in their academic journeys. This recognition also reflects encouragement from a committed educational community.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must be graduating high school seniors residing in the Washington Metropolitan Area. They must demonstrate a minimum GPA of 2.5 and show intent to enroll in a college, vocational program, or other post-secondary institution. Applicants are required to submit an academic transcript, a typed essay between 200 and 250 words explaining their qualifications and goals, at least one faculty recommendation letter, three references including one counselor reference, and an official acceptance letter from their chosen institution.
