Program Overview

The Vice-Chancellor’s PhD Scholarships aim to support outstanding candidates who demonstrate the potential to make significant contributions to their field. The scholarships are available for both full-time and part-time study, offering flexibility to suit different personal and professional commitments.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree (First or Upper Second Class – 2:1) or equivalent in a relevant field.
- A Master's degree (MA, MSc, MBA, or MRes) with Merit or above, or equivalent postgraduate/research experience, is required.
- International applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency with an IELTS score of at least 6.5 (no component below 6.0).
- Applicants should have a clear research proposal aligned with UWL’s strategic research priorities.
Financial Support
The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support to ensure that recipients can focus entirely on their research:
- Annual stipend of £22,000 (tax-free).
- Full coverage of tuition fees.
- Program duration: 3 years.
- Commitment to teaching or research duties for up to 6 hours per week.
