Scholarship Overview
The HKPFS provides full financial support for PhD candidates, allowing scholars to focus entirely on research excellence while experiencing Hong Kong’s dynamic academic environment. The fellowship includes a monthly stipend of HK$28,400 and an annual conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$14,200, covering up to three years of study. For candidates admitted to a four-year program at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), the support continues at the same level during the fourth year.
Additional Support through HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship
Exceptional students at HKU can receive further benefits through the Presidential PhD Scholarship, including additional financial support for research and living expenses—HK$40,000 in the first year and HK$20,000 per year in subsequent normative study years. Full tuition fee waivers are provided throughout the study period, along with additional funding for outstanding research achievements that may allow an extra year of study beyond the normative period. First-year scholars are also guaranteed hall accommodation, with the option to renew.
