Fields of Study
The fellowship is available in a wide range of professional fields including economic development, finance and banking, public policy analysis, technology policy and management, journalism and communications, law and human rights, environmental policy, natural resource management, urban and regional planning, public health policy, educational administration, substance abuse prevention, and many other areas connected to leadership and community development.
Who Can Apply
The program is open to citizens of eligible countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and the Pacific region.
Applicants must apply through the Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy or through the Binational Fulbright Commission in their home country.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must hold at least a bachelor’s degree and have a minimum of five years of full time professional experience.
Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership potential, a clear commitment to public service, and excellent English language ability.
The program is intended for professionals who have limited previous experience in the United States.
Recent graduates, current students, and individuals with extensive recent experience in the United States are not eligible.
Financial Benefits
The Hubert H Humphrey Fellowship Program provides full financial support for the entire ten month period.
Selected fellows will receive full tuition coverage and all university fees.
Participants will also receive a monthly living allowance, a one time settling in allowance, and additional support for books and academic materials.
Round trip international airfare is included, along with health and accident insurance.
The fellowship also covers domestic travel inside the United States for conferences, workshops, and professional activities.
Professional Development Opportunities
Fellows will take graduate level courses at top American universities and participate in a professional affiliation lasting at least six weeks.
The program also includes leadership training, networking events, and participation in the Global Leadership Forum.
