Scholarship Details
Lincoln University awards multiple doctoral scholarships each year, covering full tuition fees for the duration of your PhD plus an annual stipend of NZD 30,000 to NZD 32,000. Funding extends for up to three years, offering the stability needed for in-depth research and academic growth.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants must not already be enrolled in Lincoln University’s doctoral programme and must hold, or be eligible to receive, admission to a PhD by 1 March in the year following the award. A strong academic record is essential, with a minimum GPA equivalent to an A‑ (approximately 80 %) expected. Previous research experience or relevant achievements strengthen a candidate’s profile. Both New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, and international applicants are welcome to apply

Awardees receive a full tuition waiver and an annual stipend paid fortnightly, which covers living costs and fosters full dedication to research. This financial package is complemented by access to Lincoln University’s research facilities across faculties such as agribusiness, environment, life sciences, society & design, as well as close-knit research centres working on sustainability, food systems, and environmental management.
