Program Details
The program leads to a Master of Research in Irish Studies and is available in both full-time and part-time formats. Full-time students complete the course in 12 months, while part-time students study over 24 months. The program begins in September 2026, and applications remain open until 11 September 2026.
Students complete a major independent dissertation of 25,000 to 30,000 words, focusing on a topic of their choice within Irish Studies. This research-based structure makes the program an excellent pathway toward a PhD or a career in research and academia.
What You Will Study
The Irish Studies MRes combines advanced academic training with independent research. Students develop strong analytical and research abilities while gaining an in-depth understanding of Irish history, politics, literature, and culture.
Core areas of study include Research Methods and Research Project Development. Throughout the program, students strengthen their academic writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills before completing their final dissertation.
