Established in 2006 the Mo Ibrahim Foundation has been dedicated to strengthening governance and leadership standards in Africa The Fellowship provides exceptional young and mid-career African professionals with direct mentorship from AfDB senior executives exposing them to strategic planning governance and policy development Fellows gain hands-on experience at one of Africa’s most influential financial institutions and emerge with enhanced leadership capacity and a deep understanding of development challenges

Degree Level

Professional leadership development program requiring at least a Master’s degree in disciplines relevant to AfDB operations including banking business economics finance social sciences international development or related fields

Fellowship Benefits

The 12-month fully funded fellowship provides a monthly stipend travel and mission-related expenses medical child education and retirement support Fellows work closely with AfDB leadership including the President and senior executives gaining a unique platform to build leadership capacity and policy experience while contributing to Africa’s development

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be under 40 years old or under 45 for women with children Hold a Master’s degree and have a minimum of seven years professional experience in areas related to AfDB’s High 5 priorities including Lighting up and powering Africa Feeding Africa Industrializing Africa Integrating Africa and Improving the quality of life for Africa’s people Demonstrate strong leadership communication and analytical skills with proven ability in policy formulation project execution and strategic planning Applicants must not be current or former AfDB staff or have close family relations with one Government officials active military personnel and political party leaders are not eligible
