The Maxwell King PhD Scholarship provides full support for the entire duration of your PhD at Monash University. Each year, only two scholarships are awarded: one in the Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) and one in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
Funding and Benefits
Valued at AUD 52,352 (2025 rate), the scholarship includes:
A living allowance (stipend) to cover daily living expenses
A research allowance to support your research activities
A relocation allowance, if eligible

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants can be Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents, Australian humanitarian visa holders, or international students. Candidates must submit a scholarship application in the current year, meet Monash University’s competitive selection process, and satisfy English language proficiency requirements. Students enrolled in Joint Research Awards with Monash University as the home institution are also eligible.
Selection Criteria
Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, prior research outputs, and research experience. The scholarship follows the standard RTP Scholarship terms and conditions, with exceptions outlined in specific eligibility criteria.
